Andrews Products can provide a cam design with quick turn around. Our
design consulting service also includes updating older cam data from past
designs where the original calculations are no longer available.
Manufacturing output files and/or master cams can also be provided.
Contract Cam Inspection
Adcole Model 911 Camshaft Inspection Gage
Andrews Products can perform
contract inspection for any camshaft up to 28 inches long. Actual
measurements are done on an Adcole model 911 camshaft gage to resolutions
of .000010" (ten millionths). This gage is operated in a temperature
controlled inspection room.
Error curve summaries typically are
a combination of plots and printouts.
Cam Design Analysis
Using a second machine, cams of
unknown origin can be measured yielding printouts and graphical plots of
lift, velocity, acceleration, jerk, snap (4th derivative), pressure angle
(for roller follower cams), and radius of curvature. Base circle runout is
also analyzed and accounted for.
Using this data as a starting point,
cam designs can then be smoothed, modified and/or converted from flat to
roller, etc.
Master cams can also be ground for
most single master type cam grinders (Berco/Van Norman, Storm Vulcan,
etc.).
